Dallas – How to strengthen the weak economy and the rise of businesses run by Latino entrepreneurs will be among the topics discussed at the Annual Convention of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of USA, which opened yesterday in Dallas.
According to Javier Palomarez, president of the USHCC, it is expected that this summit brought together at least 5,000 people from the private sector and state and federal agencies interested in investing in Hispanic businesses in the country.
“We have an innovative program tailored specifically for our three types of members, businesses and nonprofit organizations, Hispanic, Hispanic chambers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and corporations (MNCs) that support the growth of Latino businesses” , Palomarez said in an interview with Efe.
Also this year “will have the direct participation of 13 government agencies that want to do business with Hispanic firms and start a contractual relationship,” he added.
In fact, Palomarez and a group of executives from the USHCC will meet in Dallas to Timothy Geithner, Treasury Secretary United States, to discuss the importance of small businesses in the country’s economic growth.
“And as we know, the fastest growing segment is the commercial and corporate Hispanic Geithner knows that and understands it,” said Palomarez, who also noted that between 2003 and 2007 the number of Hispanic businesses rose to 44 percent. The Convention will feature special sessions devoted exclusively to Latina entrepreneurs from accessing the corporate world through the boards of leading companies to sessions with success stories of entrepreneurs whose businesses make millions of dollars a year.
